iU 情報経営イノベーション専門職大学(東京都墨田区、学長 中村伊知哉、http://www.i-u.ac.jp、以下「iU」)は、合同会社DMM.com(本社:東京都港区、会長兼CEO 亀山敬司、https://dmm-corp.com/、以下「DMM」)と包括連携協定を締結したことをお知らせします。この度の締結により、iUの学生による起業の支援やハードウェア開発の活動拠点として、DMMが運営するモノづくり施設を中心とした事業課題解決型プラットフォーム「DMM.make AKIBA」と連携を開始いたします。

■DMM.make AKIBAについて
ハードウェア開発・試作に必要な最新の機材を取り揃えたモノづくりの拠点「Studio」、コワーキングスペースやイベントスペース、会議室として利用できるビジネスの拠点「Base」で構成された、ハードウェア開発をトータルでサポートする総合型のモノづくり施設です。この施設を中心に、さまざまな事業課題を持つスタートアップや企業が集い、課題解決コミュニティを形成。
施設利用の他に、IoT人材育成研修、モノづくりに特化したコワーキングスペース開設のコンサルティングや各種イベント開催、オープンイノベーションに向けたマッチング支援を行っています。

■DMM.make AKIBAとの連携について
iUでは「ICTで、まだない幸せをつくる。」を教育理念とし、「ICT」「ビジネス」「グローバルコミュニケーション」の3つを教育の柱とし、知識やスキルの習得だけでなく様々な分野の企業との連携をはかり、新しいサービスやビジネスを生み出すイノベーターを育成します。
また「在学中に全学生が起業にチャンレジする」を目標に掲げ、起業に必要なビジネスの学びを深め、また実際に起業をする学生には支援を行ってまいります。そんな中、学生が創りだす新しいアイデアを形にするためには学内に留まらず、多くの人・場所を通じたコミュニティと、モノを生み出す機材を使える施設が必要と考え、墨田キャンパスからのアクセスもよい秋葉原という立地でハードウェア開発用の最新機材を揃え、600社、4000名以上の会員が活動するDMM.make AKIBAと連携を決定いたしました。DMM.make AKIBAを通じて会員企業と、iU生が立ち上げた企業と連携なども両者において積極的に推進してまいります。
また.make AKIBA事業部 事業部長の大沼慶祐氏がiU客員教授に就任し、現在の産業界やこれから予測される未来を直接学生に伝えていただき、広い視野や柔軟な発想力を養っていきます。

iU established comprehensive cooperation agreement with DMM.make AKIBA
Utilizing facilities as a base for iU student entrepreneurship
support and hardware development

[Wednesday, August 26, 2020] President Ichiya Nakamura of The Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation (“iU”), Sumida ward, Tokyo (http://www.iu.ac.jp) announces a comprehensive cooperation joint venture agreement with DMM.com, Minato ward, Tokyo. iU will commence cooperation with "DMM.make AKIBA", a business problem solving platform centered on manufacturing facilities operated by DMM.com; which is an activity base for iU students to support entrepreneurship and hardware development activities.

DMM.make AKIBA Background
DMM.com is an entity consisting of a "Studio" and “Base” businesses. The “Studio” entails a manufacturing base with the state-of-the-art equipment necessary for hardware development. The “Base” is a coworking and event space, meeting rooms, and facilities for startups and established companies to gather and form a problem-solving community.
In addition, other services are provided, such as: IoT human resource development training, consulting on establishment of coworking spaces specialized in manufacturing, sponsoring of events, and providing matching support for open innovation.

Agreement Background
iU’s educational philosophy is "create happiness with ICT." The three pillars of education are ICT, business, and global communication. In addition to acquiring knowledge and skills, iU will foster innovators who create new services and businesses, by cooperating with a variety of companies.
Furthermore, the goal of "making all students entrepreneurs while enrolled in school," iU will enhance business learning necessary for entrepreneurship and provide support to students to actually start a business. Accordingly, iU deems it is necessary to provide a center to develop new ideas created by students, along with a community of professionals, and resources to create new ventures. This center, supported by DMM.com, is accessible from the i-U Sumida Campus, and provides the latest equipment for hardware development. Located in Akihabara, the center is also the home for 600 companies and more than 4000 active professionals. Both i-U and DMM.make AKIBA will actively promote collaboration with member companies and ventures established by iU students. Keisuke Onuma, General Manager of DMM. make AKIBA Business Division, has been appointed as a visiting lecturer at iU. He will provide students with direct insight into the current and future state of business in order to broaden students’ perspectives and develop creative flexibility.
